Nurturing the Hearts and Minds of Children
Childhood is meant to be the happiest time of our life. As a parent, it is my intention, to provide the environment and connected relationships that allow my children to thrive.
However, I know the reality is often not so simple. For one thing, children are unique and depending on their temperament, some are more difficult than others. Secondly, parenting is a hard job and very stressful at times. Raising children is an ongoing process of reflection and personal growth. My children are my greatest teachers.
In my role as a teacher and emotional wellbeing practitioner, I work with children to help them develop a strong sense of self and to equip them with skills and strategies, personal resources and knowledge to cultivate resilience so they can handle life's ups and downs, stay connected to their true selves and thrive in their home and school life.
Signs that your child may need support include: becoming overwhelmed and upset, meltdowns, expressing strong negative emotions, aggression or outbursts, school refusal, difficulties concentrating, problems with friendships, negative mindset or lacking in self confidence.
These programs teach children the skills to transform negative thinking and limiting beliefs. They will learn to believe in themselves and their abilities, as well as how to make choices that lead to wanted outcomes. Ultimately, I am teaching children the life skills required to live a joyful, connected and successful life.

In private sessions, in addition to the social emotional learning component, Holistic Pulsing may be used.
Holistic Pulsing treatments help dissolve tension and stress held in the body and can be an integral part of the session. Holistic Pulsing has a balancing effect on the nervous system, calming when overstimulated and energising when sluggish. It soothes a child's nervous system leaving him or her feeling centred and replenished, with a sense of peace and wellbeing. Holistic Pulsing regulates the nervous system, gently addressing emotional issues such as fear or irritability, and brings your child back into a balanced 'just right' state.
Holistic pulsing is sometimes used as part of the session. Children usually need only ten minutes or so, to experience it's calming and balancing effect on their whole being. Parents are often amazed at the results of this treatment to regulate their child's emotions and behaviour. During the session, children are also taught techniques they can use at home and school to regulate their emotions and balance their own nervous system.
Holistic Pulsing is an effective treatment and may be used as a complementary therapy along side other treatments and health services such as Counselling and Occupational Therapy.
Parents can learn how to do some basic pulses to use with their children to help them regain a balanced state and regulate their emotions. It is also a unique way to create a special closeness within families
and heal the bonds that can be damaged during stressful and trying times.
Often as parents we put the needs of our children before our own. Therefore, it is important to consider your own self care and wellbeing. When you implement positive coping strategies in your own life, you not only model good choices for your child, but you also create more harmony at home.
