Ways to Release Uncomfortable Feelings
when children are stressed, anxious, angry or upset

breathe deeply, practise belly breathing
guided meditation
drink water
think of your happy place (a place in nature, your bedroom, playing with your pet, etc)
get an adult to help
draw a picture
sing a song or play loud music, play an instrument
write your feelings down, then tear up the paper and throw it in the bin
walk away
exercise, do some star jumps
jump on the trampoline
smile (smiling releases feel good chemicals in your brain)
punch a pillow
tear up scrap paper
jump up and down
scream into a pillow
use a punching bag
kick a ball around the backyard
blow up balloons
squeeze plasticine
go somewhere quiet and calm down
dance
learn karate
yoga
massage your feet
have a bubble bath
play with your pet
be with friends
do something fun
watch a funny movie
play games
use worry dolls, a worry box, meditation and guided visualisation such as worry tree meditation, or worry bucket
spend time in nature
ask mum or dad for a hug
spend time with caring people
hug yourself and rock slowly back and forth
